The Wine Museum is just what the name says, it’s a museum of wine-making machinery, harvest equipment and photographic material that allows visitors to travel to history and art of wine. The Markou family that is synonymous with the history of wine-making, the owner of the winery Markou Vineyards, created in the environment of the museum a place in which events, exhibitions of art and culture are commited. Τhe warmth of the stone, the dominant building material, the discreet luxury, the allure of wine that is spread throughout the environment and all of these together help to create a space character, imposing and majestic that invites you to experience something completely different. First picture is the wide hallway with rows of olive trees, right and left, on the way to the main complex where an impressive entrance with stone arches leads to the great outdoor area surrounded by the pool. On the other hand, having crossed the inner hall, a staircase leads to the basement which houses the museum. Located beneath the old vineyard it hosts items and memories from the history of wine and winemaking. Vintage photos from the local vineyards since the thirties, a series of wooden wine pressers, some hand pumps, the table with the traditional barel-making tools, a rare portable press with a wooden crusher and a wooden filter ready to send wine to be bottled in a 1930’s bottle, are some of the exhibits the visitor can enjoy.
